EXPLORE AND ENJOY BARAHONA,
also known as “the Caribbean’s Bride”, which was founded in 1802 by the Haitian general Toussaint Louverture. It is believed that the most beautiful beaches and seas of the Dominican Republic are those in Barahona. The cliffs that are scattered along this province’s coasts are truly impressive. This area’s touristic attraction is increasing every day.

Its beaches are surrounded by idyllic landscapes and wild nature and have turquoise waters and white sand; this is the reason why the area is one of the preferred places not only for “sun, sea and sand” tourism, but also for ecotourism since the area presents different ecosystems that range from interior dry forests to tropical humid forests in Bahoruco’s Mountain Range.
Barahona and its surrounding areas are famous due to their richness in rock salt, onyx, gypsum and bauxite deposits. Among the different tourist attractions of the nice Barahona city, it is worth highlighting the architecture of many of its buildings, specially that of the Triumphal Arch, built in Rafael Trujillo’s era; Cathedral of Barahona, built in 1948; the Palace City Hall; Central Park; the Clock Tower; and the Fire Station, built in the 19th century, which still keeps its original structure.
